Does numlock or capslock work? Does sysrq work (alt + sys + one letter,
for instance "b" to reboot immediately)? Your machine could "simply" be
stucked in the kernel. If interrupts are not disabled, sysrq will work.
It could be a kernel problem then.

What other program did you use to get a freeze very quickly? I'd like
something simple (not as big as tremulous) and included in Debian (I
can't find glest and mana world)... For instance xmoto or crack-attack?
I never got any problem with these games on my i945 (same than yours). I
apparently have the same BIOS warnings in Xorg.0.log, but I run a more
recent kernel.

It's actually an Intel 945, see below :)
