Bug#404698: xserver-xorg: security hole with startx port 600x (open port)

Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.1.0-8
Severity: normal

Dear Sir,

I recently moved to Debian and noted that one port is unfortunately opened when
doing startx -- :6. The nmap indicates from the local machine or another machine
from the network as follows:
Not shown: 1676 closed ports
PORT STATE SERVICE
111/tcp open rpcbind
139/tcp open netbios-ssn
445/tcp open microsoft-ds
6006/tcp open X11:6

The ports are visibly opened which is not really all right according security
politics.

my kernel : 2.6.18-3-486
etch distro

The http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60852 problem
has been reported since long time, apparently in forums.
In the example, these ports are opened:
6001/tcp filtered X11:1
6002/tcp filtered X11:2
6003/tcp filtered X11:3
6004/tcp filtered X11:4
6005/tcp filtered X11:5
6006/tcp filtered X11:6
6007/tcp filtered X11:7
6008/tcp filtered X11:8
6009/tcp filtered X11:9

This porblem can be annoying for admins who are using "The
nuts-n-bolts method" for autologin. (http://linuxgazette.net/issue72/chung.html)

Please could you review the code to close these ports without needs of firewals
.... and I dont know what as soon as possible ?

Please could you make sure that no additional bug is created, as for instance for
other debian-based distro that have the Xwrapper.config bug. Debian can be proud of
its stricts politics on bug-free stability and security.

If you need further information, please do not hesitate to contact me by email
(gmail).

Thank you very much,

I am looking forward to your fixes,

Yours sincerely,

Patrick295767
