Not in my experience nor according to what I hear upstream. Even here
I'd expect more similar reports if this was the case.

I'm not aware of any remaining known upstream stability issues with any
whole series of supported non-integrated Radeon cards. It's true though
that there will always be issues with specific setups (combination of
graphics card and motherboard chipset, ...), avoiding these would
require not enabling the DRI by default regardless of the hardware or
driver.
