Package: xorg
Version: 1:7.0.22
Severity: normal
After installing xserver-xorg and xorg, startx does not work due to an
error with /dev/input/mice.
File /dev/input/mice does exist.
I have tried with two distinct mouses (USB + PS2).
I have installed xorg hoping it works better than xfree, as xfree was
not starting from time to time (since i have upgraded some package and
kernel 2.6.16).

Indeed. The X server doesn't yet magically know where your mouse device is.
This is coming in the future, but in the meantime you need to make sure
your system is set up so that the device you point it X at is actually
present. As such, I'm closing this bug. Thanks for your report.
