Package: xserver-xfree86 Version: 4.0.2-1pre2v2 Severity: normal Simple problem: With my Riva TNT2 (NVidia drivers), everything works. On my notebook which has an ATI Rage Mobility chipset (lspci output see below), compiling e.g. mplayer (from http://banki1.banki.hu/~arpi/MPlayer.html) fails with 'Sorry, Xv not supported by this X11 version/driver'. Someone else reported that it compiles OK, but fails to load up and then says the above. This is strange because X11 startup (var/log/XFree86.0.log) says '(II) Loading extension XVideo'. Another problem I have is that when switching resolutions while running apps that directly access the graphics hardware (like aviplay from divx.euro.ru), _sometimes_ (I suspect after APM resumes) the LCD backlight goes off and won't go on until I restart X11. Other people reported that as well. -- System Information Debian Release: woody Kernel Version: Linux ds9 2.2.17w4l #3 Mon Dec 4 15:14:44 CET 2000 i586 unknown Versions of the packages xserver-xfree86 depends on: ii debconf 0.4.07 Debian configuration management system ii libc6 2.2-6 GNU C Library: Shared libraries and Timezone ii xserver-common 4.0.2-1pre2v2 files and utilities common to all X servers ii zlib1g 1.1.3-11 compression library - runtime
