Package: xbase-clients Version: 3.3.2.3a-11 xset doesn't let me turn the monitor on with dpms active -- I have the choice somehow forcing a keyboard event, disabling dpms entirely, or leaving the monitor in one of the three dpms states: standby, suspend or off. None of these lets me flash a message up on the screen, from a shell script, without resorting to circumstances which make the shell script pointless. [Er.. except by disabling dpms entirely.] [In particular, `xset s reset` doesn't do anything useful if dpms is engaged.] -- Raul
