The horizontal scroll and vertical scroll are both mapped to the same
axis.
The problem is still present in 7.0.22.
I have a A4tech mouse with 3 buttons and a 2 scrolls. It's pretty much
standard.
$ cat /proc/bus/input/devices
I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0005 Version=0000
N: Name="ImPS/2 Generic Wheel Mouse"
P: Phys=isa0060/serio1/input0
S: Sysfs=/class/input/input1
H: Handlers=event1 mouse0 ts0
B: EV=7
B: KEY=70000 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
B: REL=103
I tried "Buttons" (with "7") and "ZAxisMapping" with "4 5 6 7"
(...and "6 7")
options on the "mouse" driver, but then I tried "cat" through "hexdump"
on the
input devices used and it seemed to generate the same numbers (the
sequence
contained several repeats of 0000 0008 0800). The mose ball didn't move
at the
time, because I hoisted my mouse.
I tried "evdev" driver then, which seems to give different output when
applied
simillar "cat" technique as described before, but it doesn't seem to
work
either. Unfortunately I have no idea, what the "man edev" is trying to
explain,
so I gave up after trying some relative and absolute mapping and the
example
on the beginning.

PS
I don't know if it wasn't sent million times, for I was fighting with
update-alternatives, to accept my editor, before I spotted the 'c'
option
in reportbug. If so, then I appologize.
