Package: libxfont1
Version: 1:1.0.0-4
Severity: important

When starting X, Xorg.0.log reports:

  (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/fonts/libfreetype.so
  dlopen: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/fonts/libfreetype.so: undefined symbol: FreeTypeRegisterFontFileFunctions
  (EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/fonts/libfreetype.so

  (EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/fonts/libtype1.so
  (II) UnloadModule: "type1"
(EE) Failed to load module "type1" (loader failed, 7)

My screen flashes black a few times, and then the screen is blank and
the keyboard no longer responds to any input.

In trying to debug this further, I started X from within a screen
session. When I reattached the screen, I found these errors:

Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server
/usr/bin/X11/X: symbol lookup error: /usr/bin/X11/X: undefined symbol: fs_register_fpe_functions
XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

I chatted with daniels on #xorg-devel, who suggested that libXfont
should be built with --enable-fc (to fix the fs_register_fpe_functions
error), and --enable-freetype and --enable--type1 for the freetype and
type1 module failures.

I do not know if these errors are causing the fatal IO error, or if
that is caused from something else. There are no other errors in my
Xorg.0.log file.
