Package: x11-common
Version: 1:7.0.22
Severity: important

Hi, I'm pasting a part of an IRC session:

<kpearce> with -f install, I get the x configuration screens, and then:
<kpearce> xserver-xorg config warning: Migrating xserver-xfree86 debconf values to
<kpearce> xserver-xorg.
<kpearce> (Reading database ... 141948 files and directories currently installed.)
<kpearce> Preparing to replace x11-common 6.8.2.dfsg.1-11 (using .../x11-common_1%3a7.0.22_i386.deb) ...
<kpearce> Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: at /usr/share/perl5/Debconf/FrontEnd/Gnome.pm line 54.
<kpearce> debconf: unable to initialize frontend: Gnome
<kpearce> debconf: (DISPLAY problem?)
<kpearce> debconf: falling back to frontend: Dialog
<kpearce> Unpacking replacement x11-common ...
<kpearce> dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/x11-common_1%3a7.0.22_i386.deb (--unpack):
<kpearce> trying to overwrite `/usr/X11R6/bin', which is also in package xserver-common-v3
<kpearce> Errors were encountered while processing:
<kpearce> /var/cache/apt/archives/x11-common_1%3a7.0.22_i386.deb
<kpearce> E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

... perhaps x11-common should conflict this old package.

Regards,
Zoran

Closing this bug as invalid, as packages not in stable/testing are not
supported. xserver-common-v3 is only in oldstable.
