Me too. I was able to get dpkg-reconfigure to update xorg.conf (in
1:7.0.22) by removing xorg.conf and doing a couple of other things. You
may have to also perform the following:
sudo sh -c "readlink /etc/X11/X | md5sum > /var/lib/x11/X.md5sum"
See #374578.
You will probably also have to perform the following:
sudo vi /var/lib/dpkg/info/xserver-xorg.postinst
# Comment out the following line as well as matching else and endif.
# if [ -z "$UPGRADE" ] || dpkg --compare-versions "$2" le "1:7.0.14"; then
