Package: xlib6g
Version: 3.3.3.1-8
Severity: normal

I'd like to build a shared library which uses some of the libXxf86*
functionality. This actually works with the script that came with the
library, but I'm trying to libtoolize it and libtool complains when you try
to link static libraries into a shared object. I suspect that this is
because problems may occur if code compiled with -fPIC is linked into code
compiled without it. Would it be possible to provide shared versions of these
libraries?

  Daniel

I'm closing this bug "#39721: xlibs-static-dev: want shared versions of
XFree86 extension libraries" since the requested shared libraries,
libXxf86*, are now available in the following packages:

libxxf86dga1
libxxf86misc1
libxxf86rush1
libxxf86vm1

(and -dev package friends) as of the advent of modular X.
