Bug#362277: xserver-xorg-video-ati: Dual head does not work any more
Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati
Version: 1:6.5.7.3-3
Followup-For: Bug #362277
Same problem here.
I could work around this problem using r200 binaries snapshot from
http://dri.freedesktop.org/snapshots/ using
r200-20060403-linux.i386.tar.bz2. It's dirty, but does (badly) the
trick. Will try building ATI driver as advised before.
BTW, it seems to be upstream problems with at least radeon driver and
video output routing. As for me, using stock xserver-xorg-video-ati
package, I have two issues:
1. Dual head configuration using MergedFB or Xinerama has CRT1
clone displayed on CRT2 despites the fact Xorg properly
detects CRT2 and activates dual head accordingly. So I have
my double size panel, one half not being displayed.
2. Using Xorg 6.8, if I booted my laptop with no display
attached to VGA output, I had de facto LCD panel clone when
connecting display or beamer, being awaited behaviour for
presentation and stuff. Since 6.9, this behaviour has
disappeared, I have to wether use a different MergedFB
configuration in clone mode or use BIOS key (Fn-F8) that does
not allow having LCD _and_ CRT display at the same time.
The first issue is apparently close to get solved, but I don't have any
hint on the second one. Clue anyone ?
