FWIW, I'm not sure the lockups are related to the evdev driver other
than that they occur while the server aborts because the evdev driver
failed to initialize. Thus Option "AllowMouseOpenFail" might serve as a
workaround to avoid the lockups, but of course the mouse won't work
until you adapt xorg.conf.
