Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-1
Severity: important

  My apologies for filing this against xserver-xorg package but I
honestly don't know a better target.=20

  After a succesful upgrade (bug #345387 bit me twice but is now gone),
I naturally restarted the server. From login it was apparent that
something wasn't right:

  * xdm login screen looks like something from 1980's
    --> Debian beautification is skipped
  * after logging in, window manager is not started
    --> ~/.xsession not read
  * manual wm start: applications look awful
    --> ~/.Xresources not read
     `--> "xrdb -merge" fixes this

  From all this it is clear that many or all of the session
configuration files are simply skipped or ignored completely. As such I
am confident that my chosen severity is justified.

  As a side-note: bug #345436 may be related, as my terminal emulator
now does not honour ctrl-a, ctrl-e, home/end, ctrl-w keys and as such
cycling through commands and editing them is not really supported.

  Contents of my .xsession:
#!/bin/sh

ulimit -c 2000000000

# Fluxbox (with ssh-agent)
#exec /home/bostik/kala/fluxbox-0.9.13/src/fluxbox || rxvt
exec /usr/bin/fluxbox

  I have configured the system-wide setup to use ssh-agent.

  Any further information will be gladly provided. Thanks.
