Does this also happen if you don't enable page flipping and/or use

	Option	"AccelMethod" "EXA"

?

Disabling page flipping has no effect, setting

Option	"AccelMethod" "EXA"

fixes the problem, however causes an unusual glitch -- on Gnome startup the cursor changes to a bright translucent square, then back to the usual arrow. This glitch disappears if software cursor is enabled.
