Hello, on a 486-DX/2-66 machine with 32 MB RAM and SCSI-HDs as well as a SCSI-CD-ROM Toshiba XM-3401TA I had a SuSE Linux v6,4 upto v7.2 running fine with an X-Server based on th enclosed XF86Config file. I had been using KDE as GUI. I tried to install a UBUNTU 4.10 system on this machine instead, and the installation was successful except of a working graphical interface. With Debian, I am a newbie. Up to now I can only say that there do not come up any error messages in the log file that might give me some hints for going on or why the system hangs when the X server will start. >From lsmod I learn that the UBUNTU installer installs a framebuffer device that does not work apparently (see UBUNTU.DOK). Perhaps the video ram of 2 MB is too small? Can you give me support in creating a working XF86Config-4? Thanks in advance, Rainer -- Rainer Fischer Quellenstr. 12 D-73535 Rudersberg Tel.
