closing bugs ...

Sorry for top posting. The previous message have few to do with this
message.

I would like to thank you for taking care of bugs. I see you close a lot
of them on gnome before and now xfree.
I only have a problem with the way you do it ...

> This bug should be fixed. Reopen otherwise.

Does it means you tested the problem ? I saw you closed bugs about 6
different video drivers on a day .. do you have the hardware ? (sun ,
neo, mga , s3, ati , nv ).

Also you closed bug about the stable debian release . As far as i know
the video drivers for woody have not been updated for 4 years . How
could the bug be gone ?

Please beware than "closing" bugs don't help in itself . Gnome seems to
have no formal rules about that though the X strike force is pretty
clear.
It ask to fill bugs with more info, tag them, reproduce, find a fix ...
who knows . But not to close them without further ado !

The XFree86 Debian Bug List
http://necrotic.deadbeast.net/xsf/XFree86/NEWS.xhtml#bugs

I really hope all the bug you closed (half a hundred in a month as far
as
i have seen in all the packages we share contributions to) are really
fixed. Going after them and find out which one is truly fixed would take
way more time than it would have to fix them per se.

By the way this highly look like a fontconfig issue , maybe from a non
debian shipped font that break it. I doubt this issue to be fixed
nowadays.

Yours
Alban
