Bug#287249: xserver-xfree86: Crashes on SPARC with Elite3D/m6

Dear Branden,
dear listmembers,
this is quite an old one ... good ol' SuSE or Debian Woody does not do this,
but the current Xserver for the Elite 3D does not work without afbinit
loaded.
Without afbinit things get *very* slow, but you can simply exchange the
Xserver binary by the old one's (either from SuSE or from Debian Woody) and
this issue should go away.
Some of the changes introduced in the meantime must be in charge for this -
but it is quite hard to tell what can be the root cause. In that sense
calling David Miller might be the right thing to do - but he's got quite a
big burdon on his shoulder's, doesn't he?
The bad thing about this is that Debian may not distribute the afb-microcode
freely, given this the issue would vanish immediatly.

Take care

Dieter
