Package: xutils
Version: 4.1.0-16woody4

Upgrade from 4.1.0-16woody3 to 4.1.0-16woody4 fails with this error message:

"
Preparing to replace xutils 4.1.0-16woody3 (using
.../xutils_4.1.0-16woody4_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement xutils ...
dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/xutils_4.1.0-16woody4_i386.deb (--unpack):
 trying to overwrite `/usr/X11R6/bin/atobm', which is also in package
xbase-clients
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/xutils_4.1.0-16woody4_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
"

It appears xbase-clients conflicts with a package in xutils.
dpkg -L xbase-clients| grep atobm
/usr/X11R6/bin/atobm

dpkg -X /var/cache/apt/archives/xutils_4.1.0-16woody4_i386.deb .|grep atobm
./usr/X11R6/bin/atobm

Older version of xutils: did not have this file:
dpkg -L xutils|grep atobm

I apologize for the belated reply to this bug; your report should have been
sent to the debian-x mailing list by the Debian Bug Tracking System, but it
appears that did not happen.

We have seen this problem from a couple of other users; it is caused by
having a non-standard and/or post-woody version of xbase-clients installed.

Debian cannot support woody/non-woody hybrids of that nature.

There are three workarounds for this problem:

1) Downgrade xbase-clients to the woody version;
2) Upgrade xutils (and the rest of the xfree86 packages) to the same
version as xbase-clients;
3) Install xutils 4.1.0-16woody4 with the --force-overwrite option to dpkg.

Closing this bug as due to unsupported system configuration.
