I suspect that's not the change you made that caused the bug to go away.

I see you also changed "UseFBDev" to "false". You had it on in your
original configuration:

(**) R128(0): Option "UseFBDev" "true"
(==) R128(0): RGB weight 565
(II) R128(0): Using 6 bits per RGB (8 bit DAC)
(**) R128(0): Using framebuffer device
(II) Loading sub module "fbdevhw"
(II) LoadModule: "fbdevhw"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/linux/libfbdevhw.a
(II) Module fbdevhw: vendor="The XFree86 Project"
	compiled for 4.3.0.1, module version = 0.0.2
ABI class: XFree86 Video Driver, version 0.6
(--) R128(0): Chipset: "ATI Rage 128 VR RL (AGP)" (ChipID = 0x524c)
(--) R128(0): Linear framebuffer at 0xe4000000
(--) R128(0): MMIO registers at 0xe9000000

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting

Please try reverting to the "ati" driver, but leaving "UseFBDev" set to
false.

Does the bug stay gone?
