Good question.

It seems to happen while I'm using the box, and my
hunch is that something in X times out while
waiting for a resource, but, at the end of the
day, it's only a hunch.

Yes, the x server seems to run for days in between
crashes.

Unfortunately, no.

The log file that I previously added to this
bug report was from 4.3.0.dfsg.1-8.
