Hi,
locale -a offers en_US.utf8 but not en_US.UTF-8.  Checking
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/locale/locale.alias I found it has already
a whole bunch of utf8->UTF-8 aliases, but none for en_US.
I added it to my local copy and it seems to work just fine.
Please consider adding it permanently.
