No, lt_us variant is not for this purpose -- it's for programmers, who rarely uses lithuanian letter. With lt_us keymap user normaly inputs digits, and with AltGr is possible to input lithuanian letter. 

With lt keymap should be possible to input vise versa -- normaly lithuanian letter and with AltGr digits (now it's possible to input only lith. letters).
