I compiled it myself, but from the debian kernel-source package.
Should I provide the config for the kernel?

Well, I am not used to using gdb. Can you please provide me information
on how to do this?
Calling 'gdb X' results in the following:

---/---
marco@lurkabove:~$ gdb X
GNU gdb 6.1-debian
Copyright 2004 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
GDB is free software, covered by the GNU General Public License, and you are

This GDB was configured as "i386-linux"...(no debugging symbols found)...Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1".

(gdb) run
Starting program: /usr/X11R6/bin/X
(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...X: unable to open wrapper config file
/etc/X11/Xwrapper.config
X: user not authorized to run the X server, aborting.

Program exited with code 01.
(gdb)
---/---

And can you also tell me how I get the backtrace directly into a file instead of being printed to the terminal? Thanks for your help.

Marco
