I don't suppose it changed for some time before that either - my guess is
that the dynamic colors were added in fall 1995.  I modified the initialization
in patch #186 (current) so it will default to inheriting colors from the
window's colors.  Of course that's done only at initialization (unlike the
text-cursor, whose color varies dynamically according to the ANSI colors).
 
I also updated the manpage to fix the inconsistent terminology.

But I didn't (yet) alter the selection for blue (am considering that still...)
