I'm not really persuaded on either side. Rather than dragging the
irrelevant gnome-terminal and konsole (and "vt100 colors") into the
argument, it would be nice to have some reference to measured perception
of the different contrasts.
I don't see anything that I can refer to on the net - and am not sure
there's that much in research results, since the comment is made so often
that it's very subjective.

I suppose so - had thought jpeg's were suitable enough.
