Bug#236245: [Radeon] Snow when moving text
I get the same problems with a Radeon 7000VE (RV100) at 1600x1200 @ 85 Hz
@ 24 bit it gets even worse when you try and run two heads at that
resolution. Which the card is supposed to be able to do.
Setting:
Option "NoAccel" "true"
In the driver fixes the problem however it makes X unusable slow. I've found
references to this problem to varying degrees going back to the inception of
the radeon driver.
Turning the displays down to 16 bit fixes the problem in both cases.
The burning question is if the card can actually do 1600x1200 @ 85Hz @ 24
bit under Windows. ATI's website suggests it can, but I don't own a Windows
license to test this. If it can then ATI must be doing Something Clever(tm)
in their driver.
