I agree that X font handling in Debian needs to improve. When defoma was first written, the maintainer had difficulty communicating with me (I'm not saying this as a euphemism for anything -- we just simply didn't communicate much). Then defoma was orphaned, either formally or de facto for a long time. I think we need to put our heads together and come up with a proper Debian Font Policy. I am tagging this bug "wontfix" until such a policy is hammered out; at that time the bug can be retitled and re-purposed. -- G.
