siliconmotion driver crashes on gnome session startup



Hi,

I have just updated a tablet PC after about 1 year. This included switching to gnome2, and from sawfish to metacity. Since this change, I cannot start gnome anymore. GDM still comes up fine, but with gnome session and debian session, the splash still comes up, and then the X server crashes and restarts. I've upgraded to the experimental xfree drivers, but the problem remains. Xsession works fine.

The machine is a transmeta-based device, using 2.4.19 kernel. I've set the NoAccel option in the Xfree config. Maybe some codepath gets triggered that uses an instruction that's not available on transmeta?

The X log after the crash is attached. Only the last few lines are actually produced after starting the debian session
