On an up to date sid box /usr/share/doc/xfree86-common/changelog.Debian.gz isn't very talkative on intel i82915G. What current support 2D/3D can one have using the current sarge/sid Xfree server for this chipset ?

FYI, this chipset is used in professional desktop sold lately (Dell Optiplex Gx280, HP/Compaq 7000 series).

XFree86 does not support this, only X.Org.

Ok.

- On a technical point of view, is backporting the driver from X.org to Debian X doable ?

- If it is backported, will it hit sarge ?

- in [1] Branden called for porter and in [2] he more or less called for tester (regression etc...)

I have just checked and I've access to i810E/i815/i845G/i855GM/i865G and i915G graphics cards at work. If someone from this list is willing to do the porting, I'm willing to do the regression tests on thoses boxes.

I do feel this driver is important to get in, because the mobo using this chipset have been hitting the professional market for the last couple of month...
