Many thanks for providing this excellent system, aside the upgrade issues I 
had not a single problem since then....

I agree for all X related problems. That perl felt down that much was 
surprising for me. Somebody mentioned that I should have done a 'dpkg 
--configure -a' and then the problems should have been resolved for me. If 
that is true, this should be at the top of a troubleshooting section in the 
installation and (at least at that time not existing) upgrade manual.
