Bug#258986: savage_drv.o: Rotate option broken when RandR extension is active

Package: xserver-xfree86
Version: 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4
Severity: important
Tags: patch

I am using a TFT flatpanel display that can be rotated by 90
deg. Before xfree 4.3 I used the "Rotate" option to use it in portrait
mode. However, starting with 4.3 the screen got garbled when using
this option and I had to revert to landscape mode.

Recently I have found that this problem is known in other drivers as
well, and is related to the RandR extension (which, despite its name,
does not support rotation). For the SMI driver, this problem was
solved by switching off the RandR extension when the rotate option was
used: http://lists.debian.org/debian-x/2004/04/msg00351.html.

The attached patch does the same for the savage_drv.o driver
(xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/drivers/savage/savage_driver.c).

I hope you will introduce this patch into the debian distribution.

Cheers,

JCS.
