Okay.  So if you were to disable VT switching while the X server were
running with the "DontVTSwitch" option described in XF86Config-4(5x), you
probably wouldn't notice this problem at all, right?

I thought the same VT restoration logic was used for switching as for
exiting, but I guess I am mistaken.

Does someone else on the debian-x list have a Radeon RV280 [Radeon 9200]
rev 1?  Can anyone reproduce this?
