Bug#248619: Same problem

I'm getting the same problem, kdm won't start on it's own, I get the same errors in my XFree86 log. I tried to double check my setup with mdetect, but I think it's okay. mdetect reports :
/dev/psaux
intellimouse

I have reason to believe the mouse should be okay because, just as was first reported, "When I then log in as root and execute "/etc/init.d/kdm start" it works!" and X-Windows comes up just fine.

I'm using Debian unstable on a ThinkPad 390x, running Linux 2.6, xserver-xfree86 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4, and kdm 3.2.2-1.

I'd be happy to provide more info if it would help diagnose this problem.
