The only fix for this bug is for some new code to be written for the
atimisc driver.

The primary author of that driver is Marc Aurele La France.  He might
conceivably be willing to do under a consulting contract for his

If someone does this, they should be sure to request that the changes be
placed under the traditional MIT/X11 license, so that all the GNU/Linux
and BSD distributors, including Debian, can use them.
