The X server log is always useful. Also, assuming xbase-clients is
installed, the output of

ldd /usr/X11R6/bin/glxinfo|grep libGL

and

LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose /usr/X11R6/bin/glxinfo 2>&1

is useful.
