Not really!
What I  am asking is whether you have a Debian submenu in kicker:
it should be between 'All applications' and 'Editors'.

to see where XTerm should be.

If you have no Debian submenu in KDE at all, then the problem
is certainly related to KDE.

These are GNOME menu files, they do not work with KDE.

No, they are automatically generated (by update-menus).
