Package: xfree86
Severity: wishlist

I would like to start running debians XFree86. However there are some
features I use on a regular basis that I'd need [1]patched in. I put the
patch in ./debian/patches and ran buildpackage. It stoped claming there was
an error applying my patch, there was but I just ignore these things till it
stops gcc. I was wondering what steps are to be taken to properly add
patches too the xfree86 source? It would seam like an awfull task to merge
in the patch and then create another patch, is there a helper app?

The other problem I have is that if I change a file, ohh wait you can't do
that untill you unpack the tar. Ok now I have to repack the tar but by the
time I found this ought my changes where lost. Shoulden't this tar be
unpacked by apt source and then a patch applyied, this patch could contain
your patches and the patching scripts. Just a thought. The problem here is
that it takes forever to repack the tar, unpacking it is not a big deal.

It may turn ought that building all of X will not sute my needs. As I have
allready stoped roling my own kernels since it's just too long of a build.
