use of intel-agp makes xserver 4.3 unstartable in kernel 2.6.2

Hi,

my problem started with mplayer not working anymore with my X with the
xv driver. This happened after I migrated to kernel 2.6 and XFree 4.3
from unstable. Before that I was using kernel 2.4 (and I think 2.6.0)
without problems using xfree 4.3.0-pre from experimental. mplayer -vo xv
was working like a charm.

After investigating a little bit I found that in the Xfree log:

(EE) GARTInit: Unable to open /dev/agpgart (No such device)
(WW) I810(0): /dev/agpgart is either not available, or no memory is
available
for allocation. Using pre-allocated memory only.
(WW) I810(0): VideoRAM reduced to 8060 kByte (limited to available
sysmem)

I also read that: http://kerneltrap.org/node/view/1896

So I added intel-agp to my /etc/modules, and rebooted.
But now xfree doesn't start anymore. See attached dmesg and XFree logs
for both the working (without intel-agp) and non working system.

So it seems like if enabling agp is the solution to my xvideo problem,
then I have to chose either having agp and no X or X and no xvideo
extension used in mplayer...

I am about to try kernel 2.6.3 to see if it solves the problem.

Any idea?

J
