Bug#235482: mga: drm cannot allocate irq in XFree86 4.3.0

I have just upgraded my xserver-xfree86 from 4.2 to 4.3.0.
I have also installed new mga_drv.o and mga_hal.o modules from the Matrox i
official drivers for XFree96 v.4.3, from the Matrox tarball v.3.0.BETA

Since then drm has stopped acceleratingi the card, it fails back to indirect
rendering, excerpts from the log file:

I am Using debian unstable 2.4.22-1-686 kernel, forced ACPI,
disabled APM on an Abit IS7E mobo, with P-IV Celeron 2,4GHz
