Yes, you can get relatively cheap USB serial dongles.  They provide an
RS-232 serial port or two with a USB connector to the host.  I've no
specific source information, but I have seen them mentioned frequently,
with full Linux support, of course.

I used to work for Digital before we got purchased by Compaq and then
HP.  The director of Titanic also directed a special effects company
called Digital Domain.  So james.cameron@digital.com was a reasonable
first guess at an e-mail address.  I've got about a hundred messages;
scripts, offers from actresses, contacts from lots of people.

I wish the real James Cameron would own up so I can forward them on.
A Hong Kong newspaper interviewed me about it all, it was quite amusing,
considering that I work in the outback in Australia.
