because sisctrl won't work. it can't switch between 1024x600 and
1024x768. if i enable the first sisctrl doesn't show the second and
vice versa - if i enable both i get no X at all.

i don't know why you've received this wish, generally speaking it would
be a good idea to be able to model Options in the X-Config via debconf.
as far as i found out there is no way to do so.

no, that's not a good idea, i love vi but won't use it at boot-time to
switch schemes...
