Oh, err, FWI, this could be (and mostly like is) due to the patch that
went into the most recent gcc-3.3...

   * Apply patch to emit .note.GNU-stack section on linux arches
     which by default need executable stack.

It's a support patch for exec-shield and it's possible we need the X
exec-shield-related patches to quiet these warnings.
