This causes "xdm" to bomb out on startup. Hmm? I didn't see this when testing. I'll look into it. If you're right, I consider this an upstream bug. The display manager should attempt to muddle through if it can't open a config file mentioned in an X resource, at least for nonessential files. -- G.
