By "garbled output", I assume you mean that the GL X window has garbage in it instead of properly-rendered demo gears? Are you continuing to experience this problem? Does it go away if you use software rendering instead? Can you mail this bug the output of your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 and /var/log/XFree86.0.log files so that X server configuration problems can be ruled out? -- G.
