Bug#201884: xfree86: soft hyphen confusion

Package: xfree86
Version: unavailable; reported 2003-07-18
Severity: minor

Not sure which of the many X packages is responsible for this... or
perhaps even locales...

I have the following line in my xmodmap:
keycode 61 = minus underscore endash hyphen

Unfortunately, the letter produced is then U00AD, that is the Latin-1
Soft Hyphen, instead of U2010, the Unicode Hyphen. The keysym name
suggests otherwise, and there is no way I can see to get a hyphen.
