Monitor DisplaySize in XFree86 3.x?

Hi,

I'd like to set the display DPI for X apps to see, as the default of
75 DPI is really off for me.

As XFree86 4.x doesn't support my video card adequately, I'm using
debians 3.x xserver-mach64 package.

I tried to add the line (which works in XFree86 4.x):

   DisplaySize 250 177

to the `Monitor' section of /etc/X11/XF86Config, but the server aborted
with an error like `Monitor section keyword expected,' with reference to
the the DisplaySize keyword (I'm at work right now, so I don't have the
exact error message handy).

[It's slightly strange, as I seem to recall that working in 3.x before,
and if I look at the output of doing `strings' on the X server binary, I
actually see the string `displaysize' right there among the other
Monitor section keywords...]

So, can someone tell me how to set the monitor size/resolution in
XFree86 3.x?

Thanks,

-Miles

.Numeric stability is probably not all that important when you're guessing.
