Hello, Takuo et al.

I was experiencing problems after upgrading to 1.3 (the browser silently
exited when I tried to access www.sun.com, docs.sun.com, sunsolve.sun.com.
~/.mozilla removed, MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME unset, executed as
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/mozilla:/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins:/usr/lib
/usr/lib/mozilla/mozilla-bin, exit code 11).

After that, I've upgraded:

debconf            to 1.2.34,
fontconfig         to 2.1.92-5,
libpango1.0-common to 1.2.1-3,
libpango1.0-0      to 1.2.1-3,
libgtk2.0-common   to 2.2.1-4,
libgtk2.0-0        to 2.2.1-4,

and my problems went away (I don't know which one caused the difference,
since I upgraded all in one command).

I don't know what The Policy says about that, but do you think it would
be better to (paranoidly) require the versions of the packages this one
depends on be at least the same as yours at the moment of testing? DLL
hell was a much-discussed issue, and I don't see a simple solution
(although Debian's version requirements in Depends: field seem to
relieve the problem to some extent), and such a measure could save
people's time.

Feel free to close this bug on your discretion, but I do wish to know
your opinion. Or is this more appropriate for debian-devel?

With kind regards,
Baurjan.

Description:

 libxrender1-dbg - X Rendering Extension client library (unstripped)
Closes: 181815
Changes:
 xrender (0.8.1-1) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * initial release
     + fix bad length computation in
       XRenderCompositeString16()/XRenderCompositeString32() that caused
       application crashes with BadValue X protocol errors, particularly in
       gnome-terminal and mozilla-xft (Closes: #181815)
 .
   * {Makefile.am,xrender.pc.in}: Upstream hasn't quite gotten rid of its
     libXext dependency yet; Xrenderint.h still makes reference to
     XMissingExtension(). Therefore, Xrender itself, and objects that link
     against libXrender, should also link against libXext.
   * {Makefile.in,aclocal.m4,config.guess,config.sub,configure}: regenerated
     with automake 1.7.4 and friends
 .
   * Until XFree86 4.3.0 is released to Debian unstable:
     - the libxrender1 package will depend on xlibs (>> 4.2.1) and dpkg-divert
       its libXrender.so.1 symlink
     - the libxrender1-dbg package will depend on xlibs-dbg (>> 4.2.1) and
       dpkg-divert its libXrender.so.1 symlink
     - the libxrender-dev package will depend on xlibs-dev (>> 4.2.1) and
       dpkg-divert its libXrender.a file, libXrender.so symlink, and Xrender.h
