I got around the compile error using a patch I found on the kernel
list, but the resulting driver doesn't work. In a text console,
after I "modprobe radeonfb", various vertical strips of the screen
are repeated. When I try to start X, I get a device not found error
(I can get the precise error message if it would help). Has anyone
successfully used the radeon framebuffer??? If it matters, I have
a 1600x1200 UXGA LCD display on an Inspiron 4100.
I also tried xf86config, and it produced an XF86Config file which
uses the vga driver. This works, but is only at 320x200.
Any estimates of when the new version of X will be released?
Thanks for the help so far.
Dan
