Bug#166816: xterm: clock set back in time -> screwy text selection

Package: xterm
Version: 4.2.1-3
Severity: normal

I couldn't belive this was happening at first, but I have reproduced it
4 times now.

* Run an xterm or two, and verify that text highlights as expected;
starting from the letter clicked on and extending up or down to the
point the mouse is over when dragging with the mouse. Stop dragging
and click on the xterm once to clear the highlight.
* run "date -s "1:50pm" (time was 1:52 pm when I first did this)
* Now highlight some text. Try to clear the highlight by clicking
outside it, and the highlight instead expends to cover the point
  clicked. Very annoying.
* hwlcock --hctosys and watch highlighting return to normal.

I'd suspect some kind of bogus timestamp and/or something nasty in the X
protocol.

My system clock is set to GMT, my timezone is -0500 from GMT right now.
I don't reproduce this behavior in other X apps I tried: xedit, galeon,
and xchat's main window. I do get some weird behavior with highliughted
text in xchat's text entry field after setting the time back.

Oh, and if I just set the time back say, 30 seconds, it seems that after
approximatly 30 seconds, the messed up highlighting behavior goes away.
I'm not sure if the correspondance is perfect.
